Visiting Oxford

Travel
Guests traveling by air to the Oxford Conference for the Book should book flights to the Memphis International Airport (MEM) . A variety of national rental car services are available at the airport, or guests may elect to hire shuttle service through the Office of Outreach at the University of MississippiContact Outreach at appruitt@olemiss.edu or 662-915-5132. Taxis are available in the town of Oxford, and some companies can arrange special airport pickups. Taxi companies include Angel Taxi (662-236-5557), Zingo Taxi (662-234-1000), Rock Star Taxi (662-701-7019), and Delta Transportation of Oxford (662-822-8726).

The drive from Memphis to Oxford is approximately 68 miles. A map from the airport to Barnard Observatory on the University of Mississippi campus can be found here.

Accommodations
Spring in Oxford is a busy time, so we encourage you to make reservations early.

Special Rates at Two Area Hotels
The OCB has arranged a special rate of $119 at two local hotels.  A limited number of rooms are available, so call as early as possible.  The cut-off for the special rate is February 20, 2013.  Make sure to tell the staff that you are with the UM Oxford Conference for the Book Group.

A note:
The Downtown Oxford Inn will be closed do to renovation and construction during the 2013 Conference. Due to university events the Inn at Ole Miss has some but not many rooms available. For more ideas, see the Oxford Convention and Visitors Bureau for a listing of area hotels.
